Screed Joint
Pool Joint Expansion Joints-Control Joints & AccessoriesThe following expansion joints are made to accommodate movement in concrete slabs. Fiber and Rubber expansion joints – Rubber expansion fills the joint and protects against weathering. Fiber impregnated with asphalt is a more economical expansion joint which is easier to put into place. Both Rubber and fiber are made in 10’ lengths. Foam expansion joint- Made in white off white and black, foam expansion joint holds up as well as any expansion material in the business. Flexibility allows for making radiuses. Foam expansion joints are also available with a ½” tear strip to allow the finished concrete joint to be caulked. Expansion Joint cap – used over top of fiber expansion to create a void. Once cap is removed this void is then filled with joint sealant. Bo Metals for more info. Zip Strip- Used to create a control crack in concrete. This material is worked into the top of the slab ¼” of the depth of the slab ex: 4” slab, use 1” zip strip. The sole purpose of this material is to give the slab a weak area where it will crack naturally. Bo Metals for more info. Pool Control Joint- This is a white plastic control joint, which is used in concrete. Manufactured by Mortex this material has been used for years to provide an attractive joint in pool decks. Today this material is being used in concrete patios, driveways etc. Screed JointScreed joint- is used as a form that stays in place with a built in
keyway. The use of metal
screed joint allows a contractor to form up square slabs side by side
and make one large pour. The
screed stays in place and not only provides a key for the slabs, but
also a control joint for the slab.
Standard sizes are made for a 4”, 5”, 6” and 7” slab.
